Brazilians to join PSIS
SEMARANG (JP): Two Brazilian soccer players Arliston de Olivera and Gabriel -- who recently resigned from Persijap club in Jepara, Central Java -- applied to the Semarang-based PSIS team prior to the 2001 Bank Mandiri soccer league.
"Both players have applied to join our squad in the league's division one. PSIS officials are discussing the possibility of hiring them," said PSIS manager Anggoto Mardi Husodo on Wednesday.
He admitted that both foreign players had better skills than locals. However, the club's officials still have to discuss their salary.
PSIS -- the 1999 league champion, relegated from the main division -- also plans to recruit three other foreign players from Cameroon and Chili.
"We need foreign players to support our ambition to be promoted to the main division," Anggoto said. (har)
