Boy's 'dream team' challenges GM Ruben

JAKARTA (JP): A "dream team" from the Utut Adianto chess
school will challenge Grand Master (GM) Ruben Gunawan, a member
of the 2000 Chess Olympics Games team, on Sunday as a warm-up for
the Merdeka Cup chess tournament in Kuala Lumpur from Sept. 1 to
Sept. 3.

The dream team members -- National Master (NM) Susanto
Megaranto, 13, NM Taufik Halay, 13, Indonesian Chess Association
(Percasi) Master (PM) Tirta Chandra, 14, and PM Andrean
Susilodinata, 10, will play simultaneous chess where each player
is given 90 minutes to study their move.

Percasi spokesman Kristianus Liem said on Saturday system was
similar to the one used in the Merdeka Cup.

The match will begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday at the chess school
on Jl. Siliwangi 15, Rawa Panjang in East Bekasi. Two other
matches will be held at the same location on Monday and Tuesday,
but the competitors will change, Kristianus said. (ivy)
