Bosnia boiling over

Once again there is tragedy in Bosnia -- thousands of refugees are moving towards Tuzia from Srebrenica, a Muslim enclave in eastern Bosnia occupied by the Serbs.

Last Sunday, the defense ministers of the U.S., the UK and France discussed the situation in eastern Bosnia. They have been silent on the outcome of the discussion. One can guess they talked about measures to be taken to influence the warring sides.

Apparently they do not know how this can be achieved without their states getting directly involved in the conflict. Recent developments show that the UN peacekeeping mission in the former Yugoslavia is on the verge of collapse.

Because of this, voices in the U.S. are getting louder in support of lifting the arms embargo on the Bosnian government. If this happens, the situation in Bosnia and the entire territory will become unpredictable.
