Borobudur to host Waisak event

JAKARTA: The Indonesian Buddhist Association (Walubi) will celebrate Waisak, the birth of Buddha Sidharta Gautama, at Borobudur Temple in Central Java on June 3.

The organizing committee said the event at Borobudur would be attended by Minister of Religious Affair Said Agil Hussein Al- Munawwar.

For the past two years, President Megawati Soekarnoputri has avoided Waisak celebrations, apparently wishing to avoid the rift between Walubi and the Organization of Buddhist Priests (KASI). --Antara
