Boosting education with taxes

From Suara Karya

The new tax reform bill stipulates that contributions for scholarships, research and other expenses for educational facilities are all tax deductible.

As a student, I welcome this provision because it will increase the interest from companies in providing scholarships for students with high achievements or disadvantaged children.

It will also be favorable to research and development, which require large funds while limited college budgets have always become a barrier.

Let us hope that the coming tax law will prompt companies to make bigger expenditures for educational and research facilities. Promoting education through tax rules is worthy of our support as a nation's advancement depends on the intelligence of its next generation.
