Bomb threat at BNI office

PURBALINGGA, Central Java: A mysterious caller threatened to bomb a branch office of Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) here on Friday, causing an immediate evacuation of bank employees and customers.

The unidentified caller, speaking in a rough voice, said he had put a bomb in a room at the BNI office and threatened to blast the building at 12.00 that day, Purbalingga Police chief Comr. Agus Sofyan Hadi said.

The bomb squad was called to the bank, but after combing the building they did not find anything.

It was the first bomb threat in Purbalingga.

On Tuesday, an unknown caller threatened to explode a bomb in "Moro" supermarket, the largest in Purwokerto, a municipality not far from Purbalingga.

The police found a plastic bag filled with a brick and four dry-cell batteries with black and red cables wrapped round them, in one of the luggage deposit drawers at the supermarket. (45)
