Bomb suspect goes on trial

JAKARTA: The South Jakarta District Court began the trial on
Wednesday of Adi Suryana alias Qital, who is alleged to have been
involved in the bomb attack on the JW Marriot Hotel in South
Jakarta last year.

Suryana, a suspected member of regional terror network Jamaah
Islamiah (JI), was charged under the antiterror law. He could
face the death sentence if convicted.

The defendant is also charged with the illegal possession of
firearms and explosives.

The trial will resume on Nov. 5. -- Antara.
