Bomb hoax hits Bogor traders

BOGOR: A bomb threat was received at the Anyar traditional market in Bogor on Friday morning, causing traders to temporarily shut up shop.

The bomb squad found that a suspicious looking bottle with powder and cord inside it, which was placed in front of Panda Fashion kiosk No. 25-26, was not a real bomb.

The kiosk owner, Jeni, had found the bottle and alerted the public order officers who guard the market. The public order officers then contacted the police.

Chief detective Adj. Comr. Arief Rachman said the bottle had been spotted at 4:30 a.m.

Police officers were at the scene until 7 a.m.

"The bottle contained sand, cord, an alarm clock and small pipes, but it was not a bomb," Arief said.

The traders resumed business after the police declared the area safe. -- Antara
