Bomb hoax disrupts school

PURWOKERTO, Central Java: Some 700 students and teachers of the Muhammadiyah high school in Purwokerto evacuated their classrooms following a bomb threat from an unidentified caller on Wednesday.

Hamidyah, an administrative employee of the school, said a male called at 8:30 a.m. and threatened to blow up the school within half an hour.

A quarter of an hour later the bomb scare was repeated with the warning that the explosion would take place within another 15 minutes.

Police rushed to the scene after being informed of the threat, and failed to find any explosives within the school grounds.

According to police sources, Muhammadiyah institutions in the city received frequent bomb threats. (45/arp)
