Bomb hoax at home occupies police
JAKARTA: Half an hour before the fuel price hikes came into effect on Tuesday, a single phone call shifted police attention to their own security rather than securing the city from possible protests over the price increases.
An unidentified man called front desk officer Second Brig. Priyo at about 11:30 p.m. and told him that there was a bomb in the building that would explode in 30 minutes.
The bomb squad arrived 30 minutes later and swept the area.
The squad declared the area clear after 50 minutes of searching in the police compound.
City police are now attempting to trace the caller. -- JP
