Bomb found in Pasar Nangka

JAKARTA (JP): The National Police bomb squad disarmed a bomb that was discovered on Thursday by an employee of the City Sanitation Agency in Pasar Nangka in Senen, Central Jakarta.

Central Jakarta Police chief of operational control Comr. Paulus Waterpauw said the bomb was manufactured in 1984.

"It was found by a cleaner, Aryo, at about 1 p.m. while he was cleaning garbage from the sewer under Kalibaru Barat bridge in front of the Pasar Nangka Police station," Waterpauw said on Thursday.

"It must have been stuck there for a really long time ... because it looks quite rusty."

After discovering the bomb, Aryo immediately informed the Central Jakarta Police, who contacted the National Police bomb squad. (ylt)
