Bolder MX-5 to make Tokyo debut
TOKYO: Mazda will unveil its new, bolder MX-5 roadster at the Tokyo motor show next week.
The much-awaited new MX-5 which, in its first model, has become one of the world's most successful sports cars, and has inherited all the virtues from the first generation. The latest MX-5 is more aggressively styled, in the vein of the RX-7.
The car comes in DOHC 16-valve 1.6-liter or 1.8-liter guises. Both the engine and double wishbone front and rear suspensions have been refined and Mazda has incorporated its impact distribution and absorption system to enhance collision safety.
Mazda has also eliminated the vinyl rear window, opting instead to replace it with a full glass window, which will be heated. In doing so, the opening and closing of the roof have been made easier and the overall weight of the roof reduced.
