Boiled eggs program interests Bangladesh

TANGERANG: The Tangerang administration's school nutrition scheme, which gives elementary school students free boiled eggs, has attracted the interest of the Bangladeshi government.

Seven officials from the Bangladesh Maritime and Agriculture Ministry, led by Abdus Shukur, arrived in Tangerang on Friday to learn about the program.

Tangerang Regency Agricultural Agency head Didi Aswadi said the administration began distributing boiled eggs to 144 students at elementary schools in 12 districts early this year.

"After four months we have found the students' nutrition has improved ... so we regard the program as a success," he said.

Didi said Bangladesh would also begin implementing the scheme. -- JP
