Bogor seeks more revenues

BOGOR (JP): In a bid to increase revenue, the Bogor municipality council approved on Wednesday six city bylaws regarding levies relating to livestock, unprocessed milk, liquid waste and transportation tariffs.

Speaking after a plenary session, chief of the special committee deliberating the city bylaws, Suherman, said following the endorsement a trader will be charged Rp 1,500 (US 16 cents) and Rp 150 for each head of cattle and goat apiece brought to the mayoralty.

Each outgoing head of cattle and goat will contribute Rp 2,500 and Rp 150 respectively to the mayoralty's revenue.

Outgoing unprocessed milk will also be charged Rp 10 per liter.

Suherman said levies from transportation services were set at Rp 1,000 for a pick-up van, Rp 1,500 for a small truck, Rp 3,000 for a medium truck, Rp 5,000 for a heavy truck and Rp 7,000 for a container truck.

As for the management of liquid waste, every three cubic meters of dumped liquid waste will be charged Rp 425, Suherman added.

Secretary to the committee, Iwan Suryawan said there is only one liquid waste management facility, located at Ceger village of Tegal Gundil, North Bogor.

The six-hectare facility, Mayor Iswara Natanegara said, would hopefully increase public awareness to establish a favorable environment, as part of an attempt to promote Bogor as a city achieving international standards.(21/07)
