Bogor revenue from taxes seen up

BOGOR (JP): While many people worry about the decline of their incomes during the present economic crisis, the Bogor revenue office is optimist that it will collect revenues in excess of its target.

Head of the Bogor regency revenue office Ferry Soeparman said over the weekend that taxes on street illumination and the quarrying and removal of gravel, sand and soil had become major sources of revenue for the regency, followed by revenue from hotels and restaurants, advertisements, places of entertainment, and water rates.

The revenue target for quarrying and excavation activities this year is Rp 12.4 billion.

"But during the first quarter, revenues reached Rp 4.2 billion," he said.

From taxes on street illumination, the office had already raised Rp 4.4 billion, while the target was Rp 16.02 billion.

He said his office's target for revenues from advertisements was Rp 650 million, but during the first quarter, it had collected Rp 373 million.

Meanwhile, entertainment taxes, targeted at Rp 960 million, had already contributed Rp 365 million.

Ferry said that his office had to date received 11 percent more than its target last year. (21)
