Bogor regent ready to resign

BOGOR (JP): Bogor regent Agus Utara Effendi said on Wednesday that he was prepared to resign if the regency council rejected his annual accountability report.

"As long as the council's judgment on my administration's performance during 2000 is fair and just, I am prepared to accept it if the report is rejected," he told journalists after submitting his annual accountability report and financial budget notes at the regency council building.

Agus admitted that there were still weaknesses in his administration's performance during the year despite his best efforts.

Meanwhile, regency council speaker Endang Kosasih said that if the council rejected the report, this did not necessarily mean that the regent had to resign.

"What the council wants is an improvement in the regency's developmental and the administrative performance," he said. (21/01)
