Bogor Regency sacks staff

BOGOR, West Java (JP): Bogor Regent Eddy Gunardi announced yesterday that he had fired five staff for serious violations of public service and punished 121 others for mistakes.

Eddy said he had dismissed the employees for damaging the image of civil servants. He refused to identify the five.

"One of the 121 undisciplined employees was demoted, another employee got a promotion delay. The other 119 got strong warnings," Eddy said in a promotion ceremony for 646 staffers.

"We cannot condone any violations of public services," he said in a ceremony at the Bale (hall) Binarum here. But he did not say what the five "victims" had done.

He only said the individuals had been frequently warned by their heads of department before the final decisions were made.

He said administration employees were civil servants, who should make service to the public their top priority. (24/sur)
