Bogor Police hold Korean

BOGOR (JP): The police held a Korean businessman after some 350 angry employees stormed his office and threatened to assault the foreigner for allegedly failing to pay their salaries, a policeman said.

The officer said on Wednesday that Park Yong Kuk, the owner of PT Korintama Furindo Industry garment factory here, was taken to Bogor Police station on Tuesday night, not only to prevent him from running away, but also to protect him from the mob.

One of them, Jaya, 22, said that he had been working for the Korean company for about one year, but he had not received his salary for the past few months.

He also said that the employees were told to work overtime, but never received any overtime fees.

Another employee said that she worked from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and received Rp 30,000.

"I don't know how much the overtime fee is," she said. (21)
