Bogor pessimistic about tax target
BOGOR (JP): The city revenue office here plans to send 179 tax collectors to 68 subdistricts of Bogor to raise tax revenue from uncollected land and building tax (PBB), an official said on Monday.
According to Bambang Gunawan, the head of the city revenue office, the action was decided after the office projected that it would be unable to reach the government target of some Rp 16.5 billion (US$ 1.83 million) in revenue from PBB.
However, based on tax assessment, the city's tax revenue from land and building tax would only amount to Rp 8 billion this year.
The revenue, including taxpayers' arrears from the previous year, will only reach Rp 10 billion at the most, he said, adding that tax payers' arrears from this year have already reached Rp 7.5 billion.
This year, as of Sept. 7 the office had collected Rp 7.055 billion in PBB, or about 42.6 percent below the target.
The office has only about three months to meet the target. But Bambang asserted, "We will try to reach the target of Rp 16.5 billion despite our own pessimism." (21)
