Bogor military district's new chief

BOGOR (JP): Lt. Col. Suratmo was installed yesterday as the
new commander of the Bogor military district, replacing Lt. Col.
Mustofa Hadi Pranoto, who has been appointed chief of staff of
the Bogor Military Resort.

The installation ceremony at the military district
headquarters was led by Bogor Military Resort Commander Col.
Suprapto.

In his speech Suprapto urged all military personnel to keep an
eye on the possibility of renewed social unrest, which is feared
to threaten the country's stability and security.

"Bogor is a tourism and education city linking Jakarta and
other cities in West Java," he said, adding that any disruption
to this situation was feared to have a bad impact on local
security.

Suratmo, a 1982 graduate of the Armed Forces Academy, said at
the ceremony that he would soon meet key local figures to give
him inputs on various problems in the area. (24/hhr)
