Bogor market yet to be renovated
BOGOR, West Java (JP): The fire-ravaged Pasar Anyar market in Bogor has yet to be renovated because a technical investigation on the impact of the fire has just finished.
A team of experts from the Research and Development of Housing agency at the Directorate General of Human Settlement told a press conference, which was also attended by Mayor Eddy Gunardi, that parts of the market building must be demolished.
"Only two blocks, A and B, are technically okay for repair. But blocks C, D and E must be demolished and replaced by new structures," Hartinisari, one of the team members, said.
Maryoko Hadi, another team member, said renovation of blocks C, D and E will be possible if advanced technology is used in the renovation process and it is carried out very carefully by skilled people. "Otherwise, the blocks will someday collapse," he said.
The mayor said he had no idea when the renovation would take place. (28/sur)
