Bogor holds street art show

BOGOR (JP): Around 1,000 traditional artists of various galleries in Bogor staged a rare street event called Helaran on Thursday.

Bogor Mayor HR Iswara Natanegara, who officially opened the show, said that the performance would become a yardstick for the mayoralty to obtain more accurate information about people's activities in the arts and culture.

For the artists alone the event could become a forum for evaluation and consolidation among themselves, said the mayor.

"We plan to put such an event on the mayoralty's annual calendar to attract tourists ahead of regional autonomy next year."

The street show, which disrupted traffic from 8 to 12 a.m., attracted thousands of residents. (21)
