Bogor Gardens hand over rare plants

BOGOR: Bogor Botanical Gardens have handed over the seedlings of five rare plants to the developer of the Puri Botanical Residence Mega residential development in Kebon Jeruk, Jakarta.

"We will soon start the development of a conservation park in the estate," said Sanusi Tanawi, a director of publicly listed PT Jakarta Setiabudi International, who represented the developer, PT Copylas Indonesia.

The botanical gardens has provided hundreds of other unique and rare plants for the development's 135-hectare park. The botanical garden will also be responsible for the maintenance of the plants.

"This cooperation means that the conservation of the country's rare plants can also be effected in other places," said botanical gardens researcher Yuzammi.

"We are hoping for similar cooperation with regional administrations across the country," she added. -- JP
