Bogor celebrates 522th anniversary

BOGOR: Thousands of Bogor residents flocked to the Bogor
Botanical Gardens to attend the commemoration of the 522th
anniversary of Bogor City on Thursday. Mayor Diani Budiarto and
other officials from the administration and city councillors also
attended the ceremony.

The Bogor administration as the organizers of the event
provided 153 tumpeng (rice cones served with side dishes) and
other traditional food including toge goreng and asinan for free
for the residents.

The commemoration also featured a barongsai (dragon dance)
festival, drum band festival and street singer festival.

Diani said in his speech that Bogor residents must raise their
sense of community to improve their quality of life and keep the
city safe prior to the presidential election on July 5. -- JP
