Bogor burglar shot dead

BOGOR (JP): A notorious criminal died after being shot by police in the village of Pakayanti, Ciawi district, Bogor regency, in the small hours of Wednesday after attempting to escape custody.

Daud, renowned for robbing villas in the area, was being accompanied by police officers when the incident took place, after he was told to identify the hideout of his two accomplices.

In his confession, according to Bogor police sources, he was involved in a burglary with Ujang and Asep in Cisaat, Sukabumi, last week.

When Daud and police officers entered the back door of the house where his two alleged accomplices lived, both men fled via the front door, followed by Daud, which led to the police chase.

Daud, lagging behind in the getaway, received a gunshot in the back while the other suspects managed to disappear. (21)
