Bogor Botanical Garden earns profit

BOGOR (JP): Within the six-day period between Idul Fitri and New Year's eve, the Bogor Botanical Garden (KRB) made a profit of Rp 400 million from 348,568 ticket sales, an official said on Monday.

"Besides the boom of visitors, both local and foreign, the profit resulted from the hike in ticket price from Rp 1,500 to Rp 3,000 per ticket," Amalia, a KRB employee, said.

She said that during the last Idul Fitri, the KRB only made a profit of Rp 275 million from 183,342 tickets.

"On the second day of Idul Fitri, a total of 26,160 tickets sold, compared to 7,269 tickets the day before," Amalia said.

On the fifth day of Idul Fitri which fell on Sunday, the ticket sale reached its peak with 43,409 tickets sold, giving profits of Rp 130 million.

"In anticipation of the booming visitors on the first day of 2001, we provided 48,000 tickets. But I predict we will only sell 20,000 tickets with a total profit of Rp 60 million," she said. (21/02)
