Bodybuilders vie for SEAG slots

JAKARTA: A one-day national bodybuilding championship will be held here on Friday, with the Indonesian Bodybuilding Federation (FBI) looking to select four athletes for the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

The championship, to be held from 9 a.m. at Gedung Pencak Silat in the Taman Mini complex, East Jakarta, will feature seven weight divisions, but FBI secretary-general Steve Tengko said selection for the Games would be limited to winners in the 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg and 75 kg classes.

"From an assessment of the medal prospects, the SEA Games organizing committee decided it would only contest four divisions in Manila," Steve said here on Tuesday.

A total of 19 provinces with about 100 athletes have confirmed their participation in the national championship. -- JP
