Bob Nasution reelected
YOGYAKARTA (JP): Bob RE Nasution was reelected as chairman of the Indonesia Motorsports Association (IMI) at the organization's national congress at the Hotel Melia Purosani on Saturday evening.
Eight candidates were named in the election but the congress participants agreed that only Bob fulfilled the necessary requirements to chair IMI.
Oky Harwanto and Helmy Sungkar, who were previously named as candidates to be Bob's successor, failed to contest the former attorney.
Oky only achieved two votes while Helmy was ousted in the voting. Susilo Harahap, an official of IMI's South Sulawesi chapter, got four votes while Dolly Indra Nasution, IMI's former secretary general, earned two votes with four other candidates earning one vote each.
"The congress agreed not to stage a plenary meeting after Pak Bob ensured his willingness to be appointed as the chairman for the 1999 to 2003 period," Nadjib M Saleh, the congress chairman, told The Jakarta Post on Sunday.
Nadjib, who is also chairman of IMI's Yogyakarta chapter, said the congress had appointed five officials to be included in the organization.
They are John Lubis, an official of IMI's North Sumatra chapter, Subli Sabran of IMI's East Kalimantan chapter, Susilo, Yusuf representing former IMI officials and Bob. (44)
