Bob Hasan to be questioned again

JAKARTA (JP): Timber tycoon Muhammad "Bob" Hasan, who is facing a possible eight-year jail term for corruption, was grilled by the Attorney General's Office on Tuesday over his alleged role in another graft case.

Prosecutors examined Hasan in his capacity as the former chairman of the Association of Indonesian Wood Panel Producers (Apkindo). He was questioned over the use of the company's US$84 million promotion funds and funds for reforestation projects in East Timor.

Hasan, a close friend of former president Soeharto, is being tried at the Central Jakarta District Court for his alleged part in an aerial mapping project that allegedly inflicted losses of US$244 million on the state.

The court will deliver its verdict on Friday. (sim)
