BMW on a roll

MUNICH: BMW AG has confirmed its interest in buying Britain's Rolls-Royce. However, it has denied reports that it was involved in a potential bid for the Vickers Plc group by Mayflower Corp.

It added that if Mayflower acquired Rolls-Royce, BMW would cancel its agreement to supply engines for the new Rolls Royce and Bentley models.

Mayflower, a fast-growing vehicle components manufacturer half the size of Rolls Royce owner Vickers, last week signaled a possible interest in Vickers.
