BMW holds 41.4% local market share

JAKARTA: PT BMW Indonesia had a 41.4 percent share of the market in the European premium car segment up to July -- a 0.7 percent increase over its first semester market share of 40.7 percent, the company announced on Friday.

From January to July, BMW's total sales amounted to 1,030 units, of which 57 percent consisted of vehicles from the BMW 3 series. The new BMW 5 series contributed 27 percent, while the 7 and 6 series accounted for 4 percent, and the X family 10 percent.

"With the positive response to the new 5 series and the X3, we are confident that the positive trend will continue over the remainder of the year, and that we will maintain our leading position in the local premium segment," BMW president director Josef Honsel said in a press release. --JP
