Megawati cancels participation in OIC emergency summit: President
Megawati Soekarnoputri has canceled her plan to join the
emergency summit of the Organization of Islamic Conference in
Doha, scheduled to begin on Wednesday. The President has assigned
foreign minister Hassan Wirayuda to attend the meeting on Iraq,
which starts on Wednesday. No official statement has been issued
to explain why Megawati changed her plans. Megawati had expressed
her intention to join the summit as soon as she received the
invitation at the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Kuala Lumpur
last week. Hassan and his entourage left Jakarta for Doha on
