Associated Press, Montreal

Pavol Demitra had a goal and two assists as the St. Louis Blues extended their NHL-best winning streak to nine games Tuesday with a 5-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.

Rookie Eric Boguniecki scored twice, and Martin Rucinsky and Doug Weight also scored for St. Louis. Fred Brathwaite stopped 13 shots for his fifth straight win.

The Blues, who outshot Montreal 36-15, are undefeated in 10 games since a season-opening loss to Anaheim and have won each of their five road games this season.

St. Louis had a team-record 10-game winning streak last Jan. 3-23.

Jan Bulis and Saku Koivu scored for Montreal, which was unbeaten in its four previous games.

In Raleigh, North Carolina, John LeClair scored his 300th goal with Philadelphia in the final 3:04 of overtime as the Flyers extended their winning streak to six straight with a victory over Carolina.

In Toronto, Alexander Mogilny scored three goals, including the game-winner with 2:22 to play, as Toronto rallied to beat Tampa Bay.

Mogilny got his 16th career hat trick, Ed Belfour made 34 saves and Darcy Tucker also scored for Toronto.

In Columbus, Ohio, Peter Bondra scored two goals, including the game-winner with 3.3 seconds remaining in overtime, as Washington beat Columbus.

With time running out, Michael Nylander slipped a pass through the crease to Bondra, who had a nearly empty net on the weak side and easily beat Blue Jackets goaltender Marc Denis for his seventh goal.

In Chicago, Jocelyn Thibault made 18 saves for his 29th career shutout, and Steve Sullivan and Andrei Nikolishin scored to lead Chicago over Detroit.

Thibault shut the Red Wings out at Joe Louis Arena for the second time in less than a year. He was the last goaltender to shut out the Stanley Cup champions in Detroit on Dec. 17, 2001.

In East Rutherford, New Jersey, Chris Drury scored the go- ahead goal early in the third period to lead Calgary over New Jersey.

Mathias Johansson and Stephane Yelle also scored, while backup goalie Jamie McLennan made 20 of his 31 saves in the third period as the Flames extended their unbeaten streak to four.

In New York, Radek Dvorak had a goal and two assists, and Tom Poti set up two goals against his former team as New York snapped a three-game losing streak with a victory over Edmonton.

Dvorak and linemate Petr Nedved scored in the first period, and Poti assisted on second-period goals by Mark Messier and Mikael Samuelsson.
