Blood supply runs low in Jambi

JAMBI, Jambi: The Indonesian Red Cross' (PMI) Jambi chapter bemoaned on Tuesday its low blood supply after the fasting month of Ramadhan. "Few people donated their blood during the holy month and, as a result, our supply is running low," said Mila, a volunteer with the Jambi Red Cross.

People prefer not to donate their blood while fasting.

Mila said the Red Cross was now calling on people to donate blood as the demand for blood had been on the rise since the Idul Fitri holiday. Before Idul Fitri holiday, blood demand was five pouches a day, now the demand has risen to 10 pouches a day, said Mila. -- JP
