Blenheim organizes trade expo here

JAKARTA (JP): A London-based corporation, Blenheim Exhibitions
PTE Ltd., will hold four international trade exhibitions here --
an automotive engineering, automation & logistic, steel & iron
technology, and a welding technology exhibition.

"The four exhibitions will be conducted concurrently and in
adjacent halls at the Jakarta Fairground Kemayoran from December
11 to December 14," Charles Chong, exhibition consultant at
Blenheim, told The Jakarta Post over the weekend.

Chong also added that the four exhibitions will coincide with
conferences on related industries.

"Blenheim's international network is promoting the exhibitions
throughout the world and we expect some 450 companies from 23
countries in Asia, Europe and America to take part," he said.

Chong said that the automotive engineering exhibition, called
AE Indonesia '96, is supported by the Indonesian Automotive
Industry Association and the Indonesian Association of Automotive
Parts and Components Producers.

The automation & logistic show, called Autolog '96, will
specialize on the industry automation and logistics.

"The Polytechnic School at the Bandung Institute of Technology
will coordinate this first automation event to highlight the need
for greater application of automation technology systems," said
Chong.

The steel & iron technology and material showcase, called
IndoSteel '96, will be supported by the Agency for Technology
Assessment and Application, the Federation of the Indonesian
Steel & Iron Associations and the state-owned PT Krakatau Steel.

The welding technology expo, called IndoWeld 96, will feature
robotic welding and will be the biggest ever event in Indonesia
focussing on the welding industry.

IndoWeld '96 is to be hosted by the Indonesian Welding Society
and supported by the Association of Indonesian Welding Industry.

According to the chairman of the welding industry association,
Aslam B. Madjnun, Indonesia needs more experts in the welding
technology to meet the growing demand. For example, a liquefied
natural gas (LNG) project in Natuna, Riau, employs only 1,500
welders while some 4,000 are needed.

Blenheim, which currently has 14 offices worldwide, plans to
establish a subsidiary in Indonesia next year, said Chong.(kod)
