Blast suspect had fake ID: Police
JAKARTA (JP): Police are looking for a man who checked in at the Omni Batavia Hotel using a fake ID card about one hour before the blast occurred last Friday, city police chief Insp. Gen. Mulyono Sulaiman said.
Mulyono said on Wednesday that Irawan, the name on the ID card, checked out shortly after signing the guest registry, saying that he suddenly changed his mind and planned to stay at the Ibis Hotel in Slipi.
"But there was no man with that name who checked in at the Ibis Hotel (that day)," Mulyono said after a ceremony marking the handover of the city police spokesman post from Supt. Nur Usman to Supt. Anton Bahrul Alam.
The blast, which police first said were large firecrackers, caused damage to the fifth floor of the hotel when it went off, but no one was injured.(jaw)
