Blackout hits parts of the city

JAKARTA (JP): A breakdown at the main electricity relay
station on Jl. Yos Soedarso in North Jakarta caused blackouts in
a number of districts yesterday, Budi Harto, an employee of
state-owned electricity company PT PLN, said.

"The blackout affected several areas, including Cempaka Putih,
Rawasari, part of Sunter, Kelapa Gading, Kebon Kosong and Sumur
Batu," Budi was quoted by Antara as saying.

The breakdown occurred at 4:00 a.m. yesterday, he said, adding
that the cause of the breakdown was still unclear.

He also said that it was still unclear as to when the repairs
would be completed.

The weather, when the relay station was down, was cloudy with
rain falling in several areas, including the ones hit by the
blackouts. (hhr)
