BI's local office catches fire
BANDUNG: The local office of the central bank, Bank Indonesia, caught fire on Thursday evening, Antara reported.
Part of the building's parking area was destroyed, as well as dozens of boxes used to transport money.
The fire was discovered at about 8:30 p.m. after smoke billowed out of the parking lot and the alarm went off.
Security guards were able to extinguish the fire within half an hour, so it did not spread to areas where vaults are located. No casualties occurred.
Police Capt. Sulistiono said Bandung police have requested that the forensics laboratory of the National Police in Jakarta help investigate the incident.
Bank Indonesia's Bandung director, Abdul Salam, said the fire had not affected the office's operations. (swe)
