Bimantoro to see officers in Bosnia

JAKARTA (JP): Chief of National Police Gen. Surojo Bimantoro is scheduled to visit Indonesian police officers who joined the United Nations mission in Bosnia early next month.

National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Saleh Saaf said on Tuesday that Bimantoro's visit could uplift the spirits of the Indonesian Police personnel assigned in the UN peacekeeping mission in that country.

According to Saleh, Indonesian police had joined the UN force in Bosnia since 1997. The last batch of 28 officers left Indonesia in April for a one-year mission.

The Indonesian Police personnel are, among other things, involved in monitoring, advising and training the local police to make a contribution to peace for all citizens in Bosnia. (/07)
