Bimantara to display paintings
JAKARTA (JP): A number of big names in Indonesia's painting world will take part in a ten-day exhibition called "Citra Realistik Indonesia" (Realistic Image of Indonesia), which opens on Sept. 1.
The exhibition is being organized by Bimantara Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by PT Bimantara, in cooperation with the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
The exhibit will display works of 22 famous painters, including Dede Eri Supria, Ivan Sagita, Lucia Hartini and Asri Nugroho. The latter was the winner of the Philip Morris Indonesian Art Awards last year, said curator of the exhibition Jim Supangkat.
The exhibition will take place at Galeri Seni Rupa Depdikbud, in Gambir, Central Jakarta. It will be opened by chairman of the Bimantara Foundation Bambang Trihatmodjo, who is President Soeharto's third child.
Irsan said that the foundation is spending approximately Rp 110 million (US$49,000) to organize the exhibition.
The 182 paintings displayed will also be for sale, said Irsan.(als)
