Billboard tax to go up 45%

TANGERANG: The Tangerang municipal administration will increase billboard tax rates by 45 percent next month in order to meet its Rp 4 billion (US$449,438) revenue target for outdoor advertisements.

"The new policy will be outlined in Decree No. 8/2004 signed by Mayor Wahidin Halim," Said Hendrowiyanto, an official at the spatial and building layout agency, said on Monday.

He said the administration had received Rp 2 billion in revenue from billboards in the first six months of the year.

The administration achieved its revenue target of Rp 3 billion from outdoor advertisements last year.

Said added that the administration had designated new strategic points for billboards across the municipality. -- JP
