BII Plaza's 2nd tower completed
JAKARTA (JP): A ceremony at BII Plaza, which was held on Monday, marked the completion of the top floor of the 36-story skyscraper.
The construction of the second tower at BII Plaza, located on Jl. Thamrin in the heart of the capital, started in January 1994, project director David Su said in a speech during the ceremony on Monday. The ceremony was attended by several tycoons including Probosutejo and Eka Cipta Wijaya.
David explained that the BII Plaza Project is made up of three towers and a seven story parking area.
The construction of the project is jointly financed by PT Duta Pertiwi, Bank International Indonesia (BII) and Sinar Mas Real Estate Division.
The lobby entrance rises to a magnificent five stories and has a 25-meter-high ceiling.
David said that not only is the lobby visually pleasing, but visitors will be also drawn by the sound of the "Ocean Pearl", an outstanding water feature framed by two massive granite pillars.
"Another interesting water feature greets the visitors with a series of kinetic high-reaching water jets. Thrusting skyward amid brilliant white columns, the 42 water jets will serve as a high-tech replacement for the flagpole which marks an important entrance of the building."
The second tower is scheduled to be completed in November this year, while the third one is expected to be finished in August.
The first tower was finished in 1988. The parking area is also scheduled to be completed in August.
The main contractor of the project is PP Taisel & Taise Co, while the architects are RTKL-USA and PT Airmas ASRI.(bas)
