Big sale in Yogyakarta

YOGYAKARTA: Many hotels and malls here are giving discounts of between 10 percent and 60 percent this month, Mayor R.H. Widagdo said yesterday.

"The month-long discount marks the 50th anniversary of Yogyakarta which falls on June 7," he said.

Natour Garuda and Matahari are among the hotels giving out discounts, he said, adding that department stores, furniture shops and other stores along the famous Jl. Malioboro were selling their products at discounted prices.

The Yogyakarta local administration is also holding a special bazaar for poor people, he said.
