Big demo at Bukit Sentul

On Sunday, Sept. 29, residents of the Bukit Sentul housing
estate, near Bogor, staged a huge demonstration against state
developer PT Bukit Sentul (formerly Royal Sentul Highlands)
to protest the developer's decision not to collect the household
trash of the house owners. This was coupled with the threat of
cutting off the water supply to houses behind in their monthly
payments for the upkeep of the housing estate.

Bukit Sentul made the decision to raise the monthly
contribution by up to three times the previous rate, without any
negotiations with the Association of House Owners/Occupants of
Bukit Sentul, as stated in the sales agreement.

The demonstration involved more than 150 cars carrying protest
banners. The demonstration was certainly a blow to the developer,
known for the sales promotion slogans:

- Mountain City South of Jakarta.

- Mountain View Residence.

- Independent City, Pollution Free, only 45 minutes from Jakarta.
