Five shot in Tuban riot: Five people are being treated at local community health centers due to gunshot wounds they suffered after police troops opened fire to quell an unruly protest against the operation of the U.S. oil company Devon in Tuban, East Java on Wednesday. Police said on Thursday the stiff measures followed two days of siege at the company's compound by thousands of local residents, who demanded money because of the air pollution resulting from the oil exploration activities. Another 11 villagers were injured after being beaten. -- Antara
