Beware of uninvited guests!

On Dec. 5 at noon, an uninvited "guest" was in my home. The person knocked on our door and inquired from the babysitter if this was my home. When she answered in the affirmative, he told her that I had sent him to fetch my laser disc for service. The babysitter was alone at home with the baby at the time.

When she opened the door, he immediately stepped inside and said the equipment could be found under the TV. When he discovered that there was no laser disc on the TV rack (I don't own one), the babysitter said he should wait, since she expected me home any minute. The visitor then replied that actually, he should have taken it two days ago.

He then ran upstairs and peeked in the first room, but found nothing. He proceeded to another room, where he spotted a Sony megabass tape recorder. He picked it up and told the babysitter that he had found what he was looking for.

Later, it dawned on us that we had been visited by a thief.
