Beware of scam using Try's name

JAKARTA (JP): The State Secretariat has warned of a fraudulent scam using Vice President Try Sutrisno's name to extort money.

The Assistant to the Vice President's Secretary for documentation, Ismet Herdy, was quoted by Antara as saying yesterday that a foundation calling themselves Triwikarma is claiming to collect funds for the release of a book titled Pak Try - Comments and Aspirations 1995.

He said a book launching dinner invitation is being sold for a price of Rp 300,000 and several members of the Supreme Audit Council and the Armed Forces have also been asked for donations.

Ismet stressed that the foundation's activities were without the knowledge or consent of the Vice President and that two- suspects are already being questioned. (mds)
