Beware of lottery fraud

Certain people claiming to be the organizers of a "Lifebuoy lottery" have sent documents to some targets, asking them to pay tax on the prize they won via a contact phone number. The false papers include winners' certificates, as well as statements from the notary public, the Jakarta Police and the director-general of taxation.

PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk., as the producer of Lifebuoy soap and shampoo, would like to make the following clarifications: 1. At present, Lifebuoy has not launched a lottery promotion program in any form. 2. In all lotteries undertaken by its brands, Unilever has never imposed charges on winners, and tax is fully borne by the company. Any attempt to seek payment from winners in the name of a brand, therefore, is a fraudulent act. 3. The public should watch out for such cases. If in doubt, please contact Unilever's "Consumer's Voice" at 0800-1-558000 free-of-charge.
