Beware of `goats' in the park

The North Jakarta mayoralty will install a goat statue in all its parks to encourage the local people to take care of the gardens.

North Jakarta Mayor Suprawito told newsmen that people who destroy gardens will be thought of as goats.

He also criticized some private companies alongside Jl. Yos Sudarso, a major thoroughfare in the mayoralty, which ignored the administration's repeated request to preserve their gardens.

The mayoralty's spokesman, Muhammad Napis, told the Bisnis Indonesia daily that the preservation cost of the 75 parks in North Jakarta increased from Rp 1.7 billion (US$782,700) last year to Rp 2.5 billion this year. (03)
