Beware of dysentery

JAKARTA: The Ministry of Health has appealed to people in drought-stricken areas to be vigilant about any possible outbreak of dysentery due to the lack of clean water.

The ministry has issued a circular to local governments, asking them to campaign about cleanliness because in times of water shortages, as currently in several areas, people may be exposed to using contaminated water.

The government is recommending that people always boil their drinking water and keep tea, sugar and salt at their disposal to be used as a deterrent of dehydration in case of diarrhea. (pan)
